Pruitt, Jr is a native Delawarean, born and raised within New Castle County, Delaware. His father to many in the local region was known for his musical talents, playing for Bill Hailey and the Comets in the last 60's and early 70's. Paul Pruitt, Jr. definitely inherited the creative genes but instead of picking up a guitar, Jr picked up a camera at an early age. While in second grade and only about 7 years old Paul purchased his first camera, a Canon A-1 35mm from a neighbor during a community yard sale. From that point on the shutter has never stopped. Once in high school Paul attended four years of formal photography training learning every aspect of processing his own film(negatives, slides and chrome) by hand as well as working within the darkroom manually processing all of his work. "In those days I would spend hours working on an image trial and error slowly making adjustments by burning and dodging using hand tools and also using the processing times in the chemicals to effect how the images would finally turnout. Today, I do the same thing, just in a digital darkroom, " Paul exclaims. continued below.
Since he graduated in 1992 from high school Paul split his life into two separate paths. He continued on his creative journey with his love and passion with photography and also branched off into the business world. In late 1992 Paul entered the real estate industry, became the 1993 Rookie of the Year, and continued on to become one of the top agents in the region. Later Paul became a trainer for a large national real estate franchiser and then purchased and merged several local real estate firms together. Paul used his creative energies in a new direction with this business and took his company to new heights which eventually ranked 83rd in homes sold out of over 6,500 firms worldwide within this organization. In May of 2003 Paul Pruitt, Sr passed away suddenly and this became a turning point in Paul, Jr's life. Paul had tucked his love for photography on the side for many years, though he never gave it up. It just simply was secondary to the more formal/conservative business he created. That day in May 2003, Paul Jr's life totally shifted and he began a journey to find his true self again. Since then Paul has became a nationally published fashion and glamour photographer. His work has been seen in regional and national magazines, books, and many other publications. His work has and continues to be used in corporate marketing materials, highway billboards, advertising campaigns, websites, modeling portfolios, and even car wraps. Through all of these years and the varying experience, Paul has became one of the most sought after photographers in the region. He has covered concerts and other major events from Philadelphia to Hollywood, California; from New York City to Miami Beach. For many years now Paul has had a studio in Philadelphia, but recently has relocated his studio closer to home. The new studio is named Blue Hen Studios, LLC and is a partnership with his photography friend Chris M. of CEM Photography. Blue Hen Studios, LLC is the first of it's kind in Delaware as it is open for other local photographers to be able to rent. Paul has also combined his years of experience of mentoring under some of the nations top glamour and fashion photographers and also his experience as a national trainer to bring together one on one training and workshop opportunities for new and up and coming photographers. Well....I am laid back and love to have fun on my shoots, but I also can be formal. I am well spoken and organized, but can be as flexible and relaxed as you want or need.
